Dell calls the new Precision M4500 the world's most powerful 15.6-inch mobile workstation -- a six-pound notebook computer with 1GB dedicated Nvidia Quadro FX 880M or 1800M graphics for computing-intensive applications such as digital content creation or 3D animation, engineering, and research.
Available with a choice of Intel Core i5 and i7 processors including the Core i7-920XM quad-core Extreme Edition, the M4500 supports dual storage devices -- the hard drive plus a 64GB SSD MiniCard -- without sacrificing its optical drive. Options include an HD+ sRGB screen with 100 percent user selectable color gamut support.
A new technology called Dell Precision On offers near-instant access to e-mail, calendar, contacts, the Internet, and virtual remote desktops (using a built-in Citrix VMware agent) without booting Windows. Gobi 2.0 mobile broadband support is optional, while certified support for more than 90 key applications from ISVs like Adobe, Autodesk, and Dassault is standard.
